The Urban Art Group has been very busy at Bright Street over the past few months. We have been creating giant murals throughout the school with our new mural & graffiti supplies, and started making art items for Hoboken. For the 3rd year in a row we will have a booth at the Hoboken Art & Music Festival on Sunday, May 5th, 2013. Lots more info to follow. On Tuesday, Feb 19, we will be welcoming new students to our school, which we are all excited about. Ms. Marino will be looking for new Urban Artists, so get ready! On other fronts, through Donors Choose, we just got an Epson printer/scanner and ink supplies funded through generous donations. Thank you Donors Choose! Now we can print our digital art in the classroom. Over the weekend, Ms Marino uploaded how to youtube videos under "Projects". We will be watching them in class to improve our drawing and design skills. Students, you can now watch them at home as well! Thank you to all who supported us on donorschoose.com In 2 days we were able to raise $743 for graffiti mural supplies. Check out the website below to see the project. http://www.donorschoose.org/msmarino
Although I haven't posted much, we've been real busy up in the art room. Urban Art groups have formed, and students are in the final phases of creating t-shirt designs. We have 4 designs ready to burn onto screens, and others need tweaking in Photoshop & Illustrator. We are waiting on some new computers and a printer, but we've managed pretty well with Ms Marino's laptop. Students are excited to start printing and get their designs out there! I promise to post photos more regularly as we have many supporters and fans out there. It's taken a while for Ms Marino to move in & unpack! Art classes here at Bright Street are starting to roll, and the students are working on various projects. We've started with the basics, and are now into painting...mixing & blending. We have big plans for mural projects, and need to practice our brush strokes!
It's nice being down the street from MS#4, as I've visited some of my former students a number of times. I'll keep everyone in the loop when we have out of school activities. :)Ms Marino Hey all, This year Ms Marino will be teaching art at Bright Street Academy! I'm excited to work here, and look forward to an awesome year! MS #4 students, I'm just down the block, so you'll see me around! I'll post more once I get set up this wk. :)Ms Marino
Hey guys, one week until school starts up again! I know many of you are wondering what school Ms Marino will be placed at, and I will post it as soon as I find out! I have a lot of great ideas for this upcoming school year, so keep your fingers crossed. I'm looking forward to seeing you soon.
Ms. Marino I've posted images of our group mural for sale at a new website. This is a way to keep our mural alive! http://redbubble.com/people/marino309.com There were only a few of us, but we had fun! We ate teeny tiny pizzas, chased each other with super soakers, sold some stuff (thanks to our great sales woman Ebonee Pitman), and the highlight, spray painting with Mustart. You rock Ivan! Saturday, June 23rd, our final art show for the year in Jersey City. We will be selling the rest of our products as well as spray painting a mural with Mr. Mustart, graffiti artist. I love art and can't imagine my life without it! I've been working with students in Jersey City for the past 13 yrs~ doing what I love. My students inspire me, and I hope I return the inspiration back. ~Ms. Marino Archives
