We finally finished our group mural. Everyone had input into the design & execution. It will be hanging at MS #4 for yrs to come. Boo hoo...the end of the yr. Ms. Marino's been dreading. My boys are leaving me:( I'm so proud of all of you! This was our last trip of the school year. Washington Square Park was fixed up & the fountain on .... of course we had to go in & cool off! We visited Blick art supply & St. Mark's Street. This was the 1st time to NYC for a few students. They loved it! Yesterday was the 8th grade luncheon...look how fabulous some of the guys looked! Friday was our last "official" airbrush day... check out the groups up and coming 6th graders. Good job guys! Friday was extra busy as the groups serious airbrushers practiced all afternoon, ending with dinner after school. We've been lucky to have Felix & Joey's uncle Ray teach us proper airbrush techniques, and Mr. Marino teach us how to cook. We are grateful to both of you!!! It just so happened we went back to NYC on the hottest day of the yr so far! But we had such a fun time regardless. We took the Path train in & walked thru the Village to Blick Art Supply on Bond Street. We love Blick art supply...Nice store layout & easy to find what we wanted. The staff is also very very helpful, and didn't mind the big groups of students we've brought in. We were lucky this week, Blick had a demonstration on various pencils...what leads to use when etc. After Blick, we walked up Broadway to Astor Place...saw Cooper Union school of art, & headed over to St Mark's Place, ending in Thompkins Square Park. It was a true walking adventure with a lot of really interesting things to see. Very art inspiring! And we even got to cool down in the park by running thru a water sprinklers. I love art and can't imagine my life without it! I've been working with students in Jersey City for the past 13 yrs~ doing what I love. My students inspire me, and I hope I return the inspiration back. ~Ms. Marino Archives
